Pointe-a-Pitre International Airport
Pointe-a-Pitre is located on the island of Grande-Terre, just one mile (2.5km) northeast of the city centre.
Getting to the city
Renting a vehicle is highly recommended, as public transport is very unreliable. Reputable hotels in the area may offer shuttle transfers. Cabs are also available from the airport, but are pricey.
Car rental companies are located in an annex building located near the North Terminal after Exit 3. The rental services located there include ADA, Avis, Budget, Thrifty, Europcar, Hertz, Rent a Car and Sixt.
Taxis in Guadeloupe are notoriously pricey, and recommended only when there is no other option. A 15-minute cab ride can cost well over €10. Taxis charge a premium after 9pm, and on Sundays and holidays. Agree on a price before letting the driver put the luggage in his cab.
Transfer between terminals
The terminals are within easy walking distance of each other.
The airport is quite well-equipped with bars and restaurants, snack stands, a small grocery store, a craft store, a newspaper stand, currency exchange, a medical centre, a post office, a games arcade and a pharmacy. There is also a duty-free store. Two ATMs are available on the ground floor. Meeting rooms and business facilities are also available at a cost.
Both short and long-term parking options, as well as a valet service, are available. Rates depend on the time of day, and can be paid at a machine upon exiting.
