Kuwait International Airport
Located 9.5 miles (15.5km) south of Kuwait City, Kuwait International Airport consists of a single terminal serving more than eight million passengers each year. Earning three stars from reviewers like Skytrax, the facility is not on the same level with the mammoth airports in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, but is still home to a gigantic shopping mall, called the Commercial Centre, which offers plenty of shopping and dining options for passengers with a bit of time to kill. Interested passengers can also visit the Kuwait Airport Museum.
The cavernous facility is unfortunately known for long queues, as the airport is currently operating at capacity. A second terminal is under construction though, and when it opens (scheduled for 2014) the airport will be able to handle nearly 25 million passengers per year.
Flights to Kuwait International Airport come in from destinations around Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, with select routes to North America.
The airport is situated 10 miles (16km) from Kuwait City.
