Overview

Located 22 miles (35km) away from downtown Halifax, Halifax Robert L. Stanfield International Airport is the seventh-busiest airport in Canada. Serving more than 3.5 million passengers each year on flights to destinations including London, Toronto, New York, Cancun, Frankfurt, Chicago and Havana, the facility is the primary gateway to Halifax and mainland Nova Scotia.

Halifax International Airport is in the final stages of a massive reconstruction project, which has included runway renovations, terminal and parking expansions, and a new pre-clearance area designed to save time for passengers travelling to the US. Personal touches like live music in the main lobby, children's play areas and massage tables make the relatively small airport a friendly place.

The airport is 22 miles (35km) north of Halifax.

Getting to the city

An Airporter shuttle service serves the main hotels in the Metro Area, and a variety of other bus services connect to various destinations in the area. Taxis are available from outside the Domestic Arrivals hall.

There are a number of shops, restaurants and cafes at the airport, including duty-free shopping, as well as Internet access and children's play areas. ATMs are available in Arrivals and Departures, and a currency exchange booth is available for international travellers. Tourist information is available in Arrivals. Disabled passengers are well catered for.

Parking

Short-term parking, charged at C$4 per hour (up to C$18 per day) is located in lots P1, P2, P3 and P4. Long-term parking is C$12 per day or C$60 per week.
