Gran Canaria Airport (LPA)


The busiest airport in the Canary Islands, Gran Canaria Airport is located about 12 miles (19km) south of the city of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Processing nearly 9.5 million passengers each year on flights to the Canary Islands from the UK and Europe, Gran Canaria Airport is a pleasant facility located a convenient 16 miles (25km) from the resorts of Gran Canaria.

Gran Canaria Airport is split into three zones: Zone A serves European Union flights, Zone B is for flights from destinations outside the European Union, and Zone C handles inter-island flights. The gates are close enough together that passengers making connections can easily walk between them.

The airport has a good selection of duty-free shops offering good bargains on luxury goods like alcohol and designer sunglasses, and several restaurants and cafes (including Starbucks).


The airport is situated 13 miles (21km) south of Las Palmas.

Getting to the city

Bus routes 5, 11, and 60 connect the island's capital and the airport and cost between €2.30 and €2.95. Routes also run to Puerto de Mogan, Faro de Maspalomas, Aguimes, Telda, and Playa del Cura. There is a taxi rank at the airport with taxis readily available.

Airport Taxis

Taxis are available at the airport, outside on the ground floor of Arrivals.


Facilities at the airport include bureaux de change, ATMs, a post office, a children's play area and a wide variety of shops, bars, and restaurants. Disabled facilities are good; those with special needs are advised to contact their airline in advance.


Parking at the airport is conveniently located a few metres from the terminal.



Flights to Gran Canaria Airport are available on Aer Lingus, Air Europa, Austrian Airlines, Binter Canarias, Canary Fly, Condor, easyJet, Edelweiss Air, Iberia,, Jetairfly, Luxair, Norwegian Air Shuttle, Novair, Scandinavia, Ryanair, Transavia and Vueling.
