Colombo Airport
Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB)
Overview
Colombo Bandaranaike Airport is located in Katunayake, 20 miles (32km) outside of Colombo. The primary base for Sri Lankan Airlines, most flights to Colombo Bandaranaike Airport come from various cities in India, as well as destinations in Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. The facilities at Colombo Bandaranaike Airport are basic but good, and include hot showers and porter services, and a good selection of duty-free shops. There are a few fast-food oulets and one restaurant, and passengers can relax in air-conditioned day rooms to beat the heat. While the airport itself is fairly pleasant, most travellers report a stressful experience taking public transport into Colombo, and first-time visitors are advised to spend the extra money for a private taxi.
