Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS)

Overview

An airport that keeps things small and simple, Austin-Bergstrom International Airport is a pleasant facility serving the greater Austin region of Texas. Located five miles (8km) southeast of the city, the airport serves just more than ten million people each year.

The airport's small size makes it easy to get around, and passengers enjoy the laid-back atmosphere and friendly staff while listening to live music performed in the centre of the terminal as part of Austin-Bergstrom's Music in the Air programme.

Flights to Austin-Bergstrom International Airport are available to more than 40 destinations, mostly in the US with several seasonal routes to Mexico. The busiest routes are short trips from cities like Dallas, Houston, Denver and Atlanta.

The airport is situated eight miles (13km) from downtown Austin.

Getting to the city

A Super Shuttle minibus taxi service operates from the airport, and several local taxi companies are represented. Public bus services run by Capital Metro serve the airport on a regular daily schedule. Bus journeys to downtown Austin take about 45 minutes; taxis take about 20 minutes.

Facilities

Postal services are available at the airport, and there are several ATMs in the terminal. Shops include newsagents and a gift shop, and there are numerous restaurants and bars to choose from. The Business and Technology Center in the East concourse offers foreign currency exchange, standard airline trip insurance and Internet access.

Parking

The Airport Parking Garage, located directly across from the terminal, charges a flat rate of $20 per day.

There is free wifi throughout the terminal, but browsing time is limited. Additional time can be purchased with a credit card for $4.95 per hour or $7.95 per day.

Business Lounges

There are conference facilities for up to 150 people available in the American Airlines Admirals Club and Business Centre, and it provides business services for members that include computer terminals with internet access, printers and fax machines, and plug points. Larger facilities are available in the Hilton Austin Airport, which can accommodate up to 800 people.
