Phuket is the dream destination for hedonists, sun-seekers and island adventurers alike. Phuket International Airport offers travellers a quick and easy way to transit from the airport to the pristine beaches and relaxing massage parlours of one of the world's favourite holiday destinations.
The airport offers tourists a number of last-minute shopping opportunities, but it is generally designed to allow passengers more time on the beach and less time in queues in the terminal. The locals will greet you with broad smiles and offers of easy transport connections to the city as you begin your sultry island adventure.
The airport is situated 20 miles (32km) northwest of Phuket.
Getting to the city
An airport bus offers transfers to town. Many hotels also offer transport. Several companies provide limousine and minibus services at the airport to transport passengers to their required destination. The service counters are located in the arrivals area.
Tel: +66 (0)76 327 2307.
Car rental companies represented at the airport include Thai Rent A Car, Budget, and Sixt.
A taxi stand is located outside of the airport. Metered taxis have limited space for luggage; if travellers have large luggage and there are more than two passengers, they should consider a limousine taxi or minibus transfer.
Airport facilities include ATMs, shopping (including duty-free shopping), currency exchange services, an information counter, a sauna and spa, medical services, left luggage facilities, a restaurant and a bar.
The parking garage is located directly outside the terminal. Both short and long-term parking is available. Parking is free for the first 15 minutes, THB 20 for the first hour, THB 40 for two hours, THB 50 for three hours, THB 100 for up to six hours and THB 200 per 24 hours.
Flights to Phuket International Airport can be booked on AirAsia, Asiana Airlines, Firefly, Hong Kong Airways, JetStar Airways, Qatar Airways, SilkAir, Thomas Cook Airlines, and Virgin Australia.
Free wifi is available in the terminal for sessions of up to two hours.
Phuket isn't your typical business destination. As such, the airport doesn't specifically cater for business travellers. A post and telegraph office with fax and copying capabilities is available in the Departures area.
