Izmir International Airport
Named after a former Turkish Prime Minister, Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport is located 11 miles (18km) from downtown Izmir and is one of the busiest airports in Turkey.
Serving more than six million passengers each year, flights to Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport come in from destinations around Europe and the Middle East, including London, Amsterdam, Tehran, Athens, Belfast, Moscow, Malta and Istanbul.
A popular gateway to the resorts along Turkey's Aegean coastline, Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport is conveniently located and has good facilities with a modest selection of shops and restaurants. The International Terminal, completed in 2006, is a colourful and airy space that is pleasant for layovers, although the airport doesn't offer much in the way of entertainment.

Getting to the city
The Havas airport shuttle bus to the centre of Izmir can be caught from the domestic terminal. Travel time is 50 minutes. Trains also service the airport and leave from the International terminal to the Basmane train station in the city, but these are usually only in the afternoons. Taxis are also available for around YTL 20-30.

Car rental companies include Avis, Hertz, National, Europcar and Sixt, as well as other local car hire companies.
Foreign exchange can be found in both Arrivals and Departures. Shops are available, including duty free, and cafes, restaurants and bars exist throughout the terminal building. Other facilities include public telephones, a post office, ATM, hairdresser, tourist information and hotel reservations. Facilities for those with special needs are good.
Parking at Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport is charged at YTL 7.50 for the first hour, YTL 10,50 for up to three hours, and YTL 25.50 for 12-24 hours. Long-term parking rates are YTL 55 for up to four days and YTL 86 for a week.
Flights to Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport are available via Turkish Airlines, easyJet, Thomson Airways, Germanwings, Thomas Cook, Jettime, Pegasus Airlines, Lufthansa, IZair, SKY Airlines Germany, Aer Lingus and SunExpress.
There are wifi hotspots throughout the airport. Passengers in airport and club lounges may use the internet for free, however other passengers will need to pay a fee.
Conference facilities are located in the International Terminal, while the Millennium Lounge offers business services like internet kiosks, phones and fax.
