The longest and largest of the Florida Keys, Key Largo is the closest of the islands to Miami, and easily accessible at only an hour's drive from the city. Although the main drag has rather a strip-mall feel to it, Key Largo is known as one of the best places to go scuba diving in Florida, with shipwrecks and colourful coral reefs and more than 600 species of tropical fish inhabiting them. There are many popular dive sites in Key Largo, and no shortage of dive operators to guide visitors to them. Boating and parasailing are also popular activities in Key Largo, and at night the island buzzes with a lively nightlife spread over a number of restaurants, bars and clubs.
