A perfect spot for a picnic, Marigot Bay, about eight miles (13km) south of Castries, is one of the most beautiful bays in the Caribbean. Surrounded by steep hillsides on three sides, the bay is accessible by car on the south side only (otherwise by boat or ferry).
Marigot Bay was used in the 1967 movie Dr Doolittle, and has long been a favourite stopping point for recreational yachting and boating. The beach is lined with palm trees and remains largely unspoilt and natural. There are a few restaurants and bars, as well as a supermarket and ATM on the south side of the bay.
