Most days in Calgary are sunny, with cold, dry winters marked by snowfall and warm summers marked by light rains. Temperatures in the winter months often reach well below freezing, but can be warmed by a Chinook, a hot, dry wind that blows in from the Rockies, rapidly melting the snow and raising the temperature substantially, sometimes even by 68ºF (20ºC). The weather in Calgary is highly changeable and difficult to predict.
