Alice Springs is hot, dry and dusty virtually all year, with an arid climate. Summer temperatures can rocket to more than 104ºF (40ºC), with winter days being only slightly cooler. Nights during winter in Alice Springs, however, can be extremely cold with the thermometer plunging to below freezing. Rainfall is a rarity and varies from year to year, but heavy showers have occasionally been experienced during summer.
