Deputado Luís Eduardo Magalhães International Airport (SSA)

Overview

Deputado Luís Eduardo Magalhães International Airport is generally just known as Salvador International Airport. It has recently been upgraded and boasts a spotlessly clean terminal serving many air passengers entering or exiting Brazil.

As Brazil is the host for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, the Salvador Airport is undergoing a number of further improvements. It has a VIP airline lounge as well as a number of shops and restaurants for passengers with a few hours to spare.

Location

The airport is located 17 miles (28km) north of downtown Salvador de Bahia.

Getting to the city

The green and white Ondina public buses run from the airport to the city centre and cost BRL 6.50. The Praça da Sé - Aeroporto route is the route to choose as it goes to the Rodoviária Bus Terminal. Tickets can be bought on the bus or within the terminal and the trip takes approximately 90 minutes on a good day.
