Salvador Da Bahia Transport

City buses in Salvador are frequent, but the system can be confusing; air-conditioned minibuses cost about twice the normal fares, and most major tourist destinations and shopping areas have their own stops. Note that buses are boarded from the back and disembark from the front, and generally run between 6am and 11pm. The old city centre of Salvador can easily be traversed on foot and driving on the narrow streets can be confusing and stressful, so a car is only recommended for travellers intending to explore outside the city. Taxis are available, if they are not metered, be sure to negotiate a price.
