Sofia has a mild and temperate climate, with the hot, sunny summers and colder, mild winters. The hottest months are July and August, with temperatures averaging around 81°F (27°C) and over 300 hours of sunshine a year. Winter temperatures usually drop to around 38°F (3°C). April, May and June in Sofia tend to be the wettest months. Temperatures are moderated by the Black Sea in the east, and Mediterranean influences moderate the interior's harsher continental climate. Summer is a great time to travel to Sofia as the weather is warm and the sea temperature is at a very warm and pleasant 73-77°F (23-25°C).
