Hartford Climate & Weather
Hartford Climate and Weather
Hartford has a humid continental climate, with four distinct seasons. New England springs tend to be fleeting, arriving in early May and soon giving way to summer, which is hot and humid. Autumn is chilly, but the landscape is at its most colourful and beautiful. Winters are quite cold, and snow is common. Rainfall is fairly evenly distributed throughout the year. Temperatures in summer can exceed 90°F (32°C), while winter nights can be as cold as 0°F (-18°C), making the temperature range in Hartford quite extreme.
Summer is a lovely time to visit, especially as some of the more exciting free events take place downtown during summer, like the Taste of the Caribbean festival, Opera al Fresco and, of course, Riverfest, the Independence Day festival. The autumn foliage of the nearby countryside also draws many visitors in September and October, and autumn marks the start of the turkey-hunting season, with deer hunting season following in early winter.
