University of Connecticut Huskies Basketball

Those visiting Hartford during basketball season, from November to March, may be able to catch the UConn Huskies playing at the Hartford Civic Center. Each year, UConn's men's and women's basketball teams are among the top college teams in the country, with many players going on to play in the NBA and WNBA.

Riverfest

Connecticut's patriotic tradition reaches its apex in July over the Independence Day weekend. Staged along the Riverfront in Hartford, Riverfest is a celebration of those serving in the armed forces. Fireworks are fired from barges on the river in a musically choreographed show. The ceremony includes a salute to fallen heroes, with a fly-over of four A-10 Thunderbolts.
