Airports in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne
Newcastle International Airport (NCL)
Overview
Newcastle International Airport is one of the smaller UK airports, serving roughly 4.3 million passengers each year. Located just 5.8 miles (9.3km) outside of central Newcastle, the airport is well-connected to the city by public transport, including bus, train and taxi.
The airport is basic, but well-equipped with a few shops, restaurants and children's play areas. Passengers with long layovers would do well to bring a book and mp3 player, however.
Flights to Newcastle International Airport come in from destinations around Europe, including major cities like Paris, Brussels, Malta, Geneva, Ibiza, Rome, Dubai, Amsterdam, Sharm el-Sheikh, and Nice. There are also plenty of cheap flights to Newcastle International Airport from popular resort areas in Greece and Spain, and daily flights to domestic destinations within the UK.
Location
The airport is situated six miles (10km) from Newcastle city centre.
