Airports in Nottingham
Nottingham East Midlands Airport is located 11 miles (18km) southeast of Derby, and serves the counties of Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Staffordshire and South Yorkshire. The 12th busiest airport in the UK, East Midlands serves more than four million passengers each year.
An important travel hub in the UK, Nottingham East Midlands Airport acts as a base for budget airlines bmibaby and Ryanair, meaning there are plenty of cheap flights to Nottingham East Midlands Airport from popular holiday resorts like Tenerife, Fuerteventura, Corfu and Cancun. The airport also provides many commuter flights to other UK airports.
While Nottingham East Midlands Airport has won several awards as recently as 2007, an increase in traffic has seen the facility become crowded and chaotic, with cramped, gloomy waiting areas and long queues. The ad hoc nature of the airport's expansions have left the facility a bit confusing and hard to navigate, so passengers should allow plenty of time for making connections.
The airport is situated 11 miles (18km) from Derby. It is in easy reach of Nottingham, Leicester and Derby by road and public transport.
