Airports in The Lake District

Blackpool International Airport (BLK)

The oldest aviation site in Britain, Blackpool International Airport is a compact, low-key hub, located about three miles (5km) from the city of Blackpool on England's northwest coast.

A small, quiet airport, Blackpool is mainly used for seasonal charters and low-cost flights to major European holiday destinations. Budget-conscious travellers should check out the flight deals available to and from Blackpool International Airport, as often very cheap flights can be found on carriers such as Jet2.

There is not a great amount to see and do at Blackpool International Airport, but the facilities are sound and the staff are friendly and attentive. Those who hate long waits and queues will love the efficiency of this small airport.

The airport is located three miles (5km) southeast of Blackpool city centre.

Getting to the city

There are various transport options to and from the airport. Car rental companies operate from the airport and there are buses and trams available at the airport entrance. Taxis are available from outside the terminal building and the Squires Gate Railway Station is a five-minute walk from the airport.
