Airports in Helsinki
The main gateway for flights to Finland, Helsinki Vantaa International Airport is located in Vantaa, roughly 11 miles (17km) north of central Helsinki. First built for the Summer Olympics in 1952, the facility has been ranked among the world's best airports several times over the last 20 years.
The airport is clean and well-run, with a reputation for quick processing times and friendly staff members. Major renovation was completed in 2012, incorporating the addition of more shops and restaurants, as well as more seating areas for passengers.
Flights to Helsinki Vantaa International Airport are available from many destinations worldwide, including London, Moscow, Berlin, Athens, Edinburgh, Paris, Toronto, New York, Hong Kong, Beijing, Seoul and Dubai.
The airport is situated about 11 miles (17km) from Helsinki city centre.
Getting to the city
There are regular bus services between Helsinki, the railway station and the airport. Bus transfers from the airport to local hotels and parking areas are free of charge. The Finnair City Bus also transfers passengers to downtown Helsinki.
