Although many visitors do choose to hire a car, it is possible to get around Jacksonville using public transport. The elevated Skyway provides free transport around downtown Jacksonville between 6am and 9pm on weekdays. The charming Riverside Trolley is also useful for tourists, and departs roughly every 10 minutes between 10:25am and 2:45pm on weekdays; occasionally the Riverside Trolley is declared free for all riders, but generally an adult fare is $0.75. The Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) also runs a comprehensive city bus system. Operating hours vary for different bus routes; the regular adult fare is $1.50. Taxis and rental cars are also available and those hiring cars will find that Jacksonville is easy to navigate and provides plentiful public parking.
