Airports in Kos
Kos Island International Airport (KGS)
Overview
Locally referred to as Hippocrates Airport after the famous doctor, Kos Island International Airport is located on the island of Kos, roughly 16 miles (26km) southwest of the town of the same name. Popular with tourists who use the town as a base while exploring the Greek islands, Kos Island International Airport is the sixth-busiest airport in Greece, particularly in the peak summer season.
The small terminal processes roughly two million passengers per year, and has a reputation for being disorganised and chaotic during busy periods, with long queues snaking around the terminal. Passengers flying to Kos Island International Airport should bring a lot of patience.
Flights to Kos Island International Airport are available in the summer months from cities around Europe, including London, Amsterdam, Prague, Zurich, Tel Aviv and Frankfurt. During the winter however, the only flights to Kos are domestic routes from Athens, Thessaloniki, Leros and Rhodes.
