Skopelos Climate and Weather
Like all the Sporadic Islands Skopelos enjoys hot, dry summers and mild winters. Temperatures in July and August range from 82ºF (28ºC) during the day to 72ºF (22ºC) at night. Rainfall is unlikely in summer but showers can be expected between September and May, with the heaviest rain falling, conveniently, in the winter months. Although not many tourists choose winter to visit, Skopelos does sometimes get snow which can be rather magical. All of the northern Sporadic Islands are subject to a strong wind blowing from the north, as a result most of the beaches on these islands are found on the sheltered southern sides. Summer is by far the most popular time to visit Skopelos, with July and August being the busiest and the hottest months. In our opinion, however, the best time to visit the island is in the shoulder seasons of spring and autumn when the weather is still lovely but the crowds have dispersed somewhat. The best months to visit are May and September, just before and after the hectic tourist season, when the water is still warm enough for glorious swims (in May the water is sometimes still a bit chilly but September is idyllic) and there is plenty of warmth and sun.
