Attractions
The beautiful island of Thassos has many attractions for
visitors on holiday. The 7th-century ruins of Ancient Thassos are
still evident in Limenas today, and the 12th-century Archangelou
Michail Monastery in the south-east of the island is another
interesting site. There are some lovely beaches to relax on, as
well as a couple of lakes and waterfalls to enjoy. Thassos also has
a number of interesting museums and archaeological sites to visit,
and an excellent streetmarket to browse through.
There are a number of small villages that are pleasant to visit
as well, including the traditional Panagia, quiet Scala Rahoniou,
and picturesque Kazaviti.
Prinos Streetmarket
Each Monday morning, the Prinos Streetmarket is a great
attraction for Thassos visitors. The market offers a selection of
fresh fruit and vegetables, as well as a good assortment of nuts.
