Thassos Climate and Weather
Located in the northern Aegean, the island of Thassos is a little cooler than the more southerly Greek Islands, but the climate is still Mediterranean. Winters tend to be wet and quite cold. Spring is delightfully mild and sunny. Summers are warm to hot and tend to be humid. The summer months, from June to August, see average temperatures ranging from 75°F (24°C) in June, to 80°F (27°C) in July, and 79°F (26.5°C) in August, cooling back down to 77°F (25°C) by September. Summer is the most popular time to visit the island and it can get crowded but the comparatively cooler temperatures, by Greek summer standards, are an attraction for some as the Greek summer can get oppressively hot. Thassos also has the advantage of being sheltered by the mainland from the winds which affect some of the more northern islands. Rain is unlikely in summer and falls mainly in the winter months. Spring is considered the ideal time to visit Thassos as the island is lush, there is plenty of sunshine and no serious rainfall (though brief showers may occur). Autumn is also a good time to visit if you want to avoid the crowds, and in September Thassos is still pleasantly warm and sunny with good water temperatures.
