Public transport in the city is primarily provided by the Organization of Urban Transportation of Thessaloniki (abbreviated as OASTH after the Greek). Single tickets can be bought upon boarding, while multiple journey tickets can be bought at ticket outlets at transit stations and prominent locations within the city, a full list of which can be found on the OASTH website. The majority of ticket outlets are closed on weekends and public holidays. Regional buses for long-distance travel can be found at the Macedonia Intercity Bus Terminal located in the city's west side. OASTH also runs a tourist line on route 50 called "Thessaloniki on the go!" which provides transport to major attractions throughout the city. Tickets are available from guides on the bus and are valid for multiple trips on the same day. Taxis are widely available and can be called in advance, hailed from the street or found at one of several taxi ranks in the city. Travellers should ensure that the meter is switched on at the start of their journey.
