The climate of Kingston is tropical, with an endless summer of high temperatures and humidity. The city experiences less rainfall than other parts of the island, but when it does rain it is a short, sharp tropical shower, which locals refer to as 'liquid sunshine'. Between June and September is the Caribbean hurricane season, and Jamaica is at risk of being struck by these passing violent storms.
