Things to see and do with kids in New Orleans

New Orleans Kids Attractions

With its reputation for naughty street parties and voodoo parents might think twice about a family holiday in New Orleans, but in fact the city should delight children and it is quite possible to avoid the more adult forms of entertainment while still experiencing the best of the city. Kids are welcome at New Orleans' institutions like Preservation Hall and children of all ages delight in the fancy dress and parades of the many festivals.

New Orleans also has fantastic attractions tailored to children on holiday, including fun parks, aquariums and museums. Kids love to visit the Audubon Aquarium, and are also fascinated by the creatures at the Audubon Insectarium. The Louisiana Children's Museum is a popular attraction, and while adults take in the exhibitions of the New Orleans Museum of Art, kids can play at nearby Storyland and the Carousel Gardens Amusement Park. Children also love to go on boat rides up the Mississippi River, or into the Louisiana swamps.
