Fort De France Transport
Buses are the primary mode of public transport in Fort de France. The public bus service is administrated by CFTU Mozaik. There are routes running throughout the city and linking it to outlying areas as well as major attractions. Tickets are sold at Mozaik vendors, kiosks and selected outlets such as service stations. Tickets range from single tickets that are valid for one hour of travel to unlimited day passes. Tickets can also be purchased from the driver upon boarding. Shared taxis are an inexpensive way of travelling and are popular with locals. Known as taxico, they provide access to destinations across the island. Standard taxis are also available and are required by law to use a meter. Drivers are unlikely to speak English and travellers uncertain about the pronunciation of a destination may want to write it down.
