The climate of Auckland is sub-tropical, with warm, humid summers and mild, damp winters. The hottest months are January and February. Auckland is wet all year round, with a high annual average rainfall, but winters are particularly rainy. Tropical cyclones and the onslaught of cold fronts can occur, bringing the odd extreme weather conditions like hailstorms.
