Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT)
Overview
The large, yet well-designed Pittsburgh International Airport has plenty of shops, restaurants and amenities on offer for travellers from across the world. The airport is well connected to central Pittsburgh via bus and is located just 20 miles (32km) from the centre of town.
Pittsburgh International Airport is the second busiest airport in Pennsylvania after Philadelphia International. It's the perfect airport to use to access the scenic city of Pittsburgh, with its varied architecture nestled in between bridges, rivers and steep hills throughout the city.
Location
The airport is located 14 miles (22km) west of central Pittsburgh.
Getting to the city
Several limousine, taxi and shuttle bus services operate from the airport providing transport to the city and nearby centres. Public transportation is limited to the Port Authority Transit's 28X Airport Flyer which departs every 20 minutes connecting to central Pittsburgh for approximately $2.60 (Tel: 412-442-20000). All public transport and taxi ranks (Tel : 412-664-5600 )are situated on the baggage reclaim level of the Landside Terminal. Taxi fare can increase due to luggage and time of night but is usually US$35.
