The climate of Pittsburgh is continental, with four distinct seasons. Summers are warm and fairly humid, while winters are cold and snowy. Winter temperatures are not extreme, however, seldom dropping more than a few degrees below freezing. Pittsburgh is known to be one of the cloudiest cities in the United States, grey skies predominating for more than 200 days a year on average.
