Lima is situated in the tropics, but has an unusual climate because of the influence of the cold Humboldt Current that flows by in the ocean. Lima is the driest city in the world, rain being almost unheard of in the metropole. The weather in the city is also surprisingly mild, temperatures ranging between averages of 59ºF (15ºC) in winter and 86ºF (26ºC) in summer. Humidity, though, is extremely high, and the city is often shrouded in fog.
