What to see in Cebu

Cebu Attractions

Cebu is the oldest city in the Philippines and there are a number of interesting colonial buildings and historical attractions for tourists to discover. Some of the most popular sightseeing stops are the Basilica Minore de Santo Nino, which houses the oldest religious relic in the Philippines; the fascinating Casa Gorordo Museum, a restored 19th-century Filipino home; Fort San Pedro, the old coastal Spanish fortress; the Yap Sandiego Ancestral House, a living museum dating back to the Spanish colonial era; Jesuit House Museum, built in 1730; and the ornate Taoist Temple. Of course, Cebu is most renowned for the magnificent beaches in the region, and sightseeing is only possible if travellers manage to drag themselves off the white beaches and out of the colourful underwater world which attracts so many scuba divers and snorkellers. Mactan Island, Olango Island and Kansatik are all easily accessible from the city and the area is bursting with paradise islands.

Cebu is the gateway to a stunning region of the Philippines and popular travel destinations in the region include Bohol Island, to the southeast of the city, where tourists flock to see the remarkable Chocolate Hills, and Boracay Island, in the western Visayas, which is celebrated as the best beach resort destination in the Philippines.
