Airports in Gran Canaria
The busiest airport in the Canary Islands, Gran Canaria Airport is located about 12 miles (19km) south of the city of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Processing nearly 9.5 million passengers each year on flights to the Canary Islands from the UK and Europe, Gran Canaria Airport is a pleasant facility located a convenient 16 miles (25km) from the resorts of Gran Canaria.
Gran Canaria Airport is split into three zones: Zone A serves European Union flights, Zone B is for flights from destinations outside the European Union, and Zone C handles inter-island flights. The gates are close enough together that passengers making connections can easily walk between them.
The airport has a good selection of duty-free shops offering good bargains on luxury goods like alcohol and designer sunglasses, and several restaurants and cafes (including Starbucks).
The airport is situated on the east coast of the island, 10 miles (16 km) south of Las Palmas.
Getting to the city
Bus route 60 connects the island's capital and the airport and costs between €2.30 and €2.95. There is a taxi rank at the airport with taxis readily available.
