Attractions
There is much to see and do in Taipei for foreign visitors. The
city's most famous attraction is its landmark skyscraper Taipei
101, which has turned into a veritable tourist mecca over the
years, offering a range of entertainment amenities and busy
restaurants and boutique stores. Other excellent sights within
Taipei include the National Palace Museum, where a tremendous
amount of fascinating Chinese cultural artefacts (including the
Jade Cabbage) are kept; and the Shi Lin Night Market, which offers
excellent shopping and an unforgettable cultural experience all in
one. There are also several worthwhile excursions to make from
Taipei, including a hiking trip to the Taroko Gorge and a visit to
the island's best beach in Kenting, while in the spring, several
towns host popular cherry blossom festivals.
