Other excellent sights within Taipei include the National Palace Museum, where a tremendous amount of fascinating Chinese cultural artefacts (including the Jade Cabbage) are kept; and the Shi Lin Night Market, which offers excellent shopping and an unforgettable cultural experience all in one. There are also several worthwhile excursions to make from Taipei, including a hiking trip to the Taroko Gorge and a visit to the island's best beach in Kenting, while in the spring, several towns host popular cherry blossom festivals.
