The climate of Istanbul is Mediterranean, although rain does occasionally occur in summer. The weather in summer is generally hot, sunny and humid. Winters in Istanbul are cold and wet, and heavy snowfalls are common between November and April. Temperatures hardly ever drop as low as zero in winter, but the city is quite windy.
