Airports in Madison

Dane County Regional Airport (MSN)

A small municipal airport serving Madison and south-central Wisconsin, Dane County Regional Airport is a quietly efficient facility often overlooked by travellers heading to the much larger airport in Milwaukee.

Serving roughly 1.5 million passengers each year, Dane County Regional Airport offers non-stop service to 13 airports around the US, including Chicago, Detroit, Minneapolis, New York, Orlando, and Washington DC.

The airport is small and relaxed, with a few shops and restaurants in the terminal. However, it has a reputation for thorough security screening, so passengers should be prepared for no nonsense at security checkpoints.

The airport is located five miles (8km) northeast of Madison.

Getting to the city

The Madison Metro Transit System Route 20 bus runs to the airport every 30 minutes on weekdays, and every 60 minutes in the evenings and on weekends and holidays. Travellers going to downtown Madison should take the westbound bus marked 'Route 20 - North Transfer Point', while those heading east can take the bus marked 'Route 20 - East Towne Mall'. Many hotels in Madison offer complimentary shuttle transfers from the airport.
