International Folklore Festival
Bulgaria's International Folklore Festival, held in the city of Varna, has been an important annual event on the country's calendar for 20 years. The festival aims to showcase not only the rich Bulgarian folk heritage but also to celebrate folklore and traditions from all over the world. In the 20 editions up to now, more than 150 folk ensembles from all over the world have taken part; this means that over 10,000 participants from 50 different countries in Europe, Asia, Africa and America have taken part in the festival. And that is in addition to the 56 folk ensembles produced by Bulgaria itself. Events are held all over Varna and mainly consist of dancing shows, parades and other traditional performances, naturally all performed in traditional national costumes, which for some people is the main attraction.
