Lobster Days
A quintessentially New England festival, Lobster Days are held over Memorial Day weekend at Mystic Seaport. Organised for many years by the Mystic Rotary Club (with all proceeds going to charity), lobster platters - including coleslaw, corn on the cob, drawn butter, and home-made lemonade - are served picnic-style under Mystic Seaport's open-air boat shed, where diners can enjoy a luxurious summer afternoon, watching the boats cruising on the Mystic River, and listening to the soft music of the sea. The weekend also offers special activities for visitors of all ages, including presentations on the Long Island lobstering industry, story time sessions in the children's museum, and 19th-century games on the nearby Village Green.
