Tips on travelling to Seville from Inmaculada Arteaga

Hello! My name is Inmaculada Arteaga, I am in my late 20s, and I am proudly from Andalucia, Spain. I love videography, photography and travelling. I have lived on three different continents and visited over 40 countries. Now I am back in my hometown to start my own business and contribute to the wonderful world of travel.

I think when we travel, we often rush to take as many photos and videos as possible. However, the reality is, that most of the time we don't give ourselves a moment to be present in the experience. My company helps you capture the experience forever, by taking photos so you don't have to.

As a resident, what makes you passionate about Seville?

Seville is by far one of the best cities in the world to live and love life. Having lived in many other cities, I always come back to this little piece of land. Not only do you walk everyday through centuries of history and plenty of cultural legacies, but the people are so relaxed and friendly. It makes you feel as though you can chat about everything and nothing the entire day.

Where is the first place you would send a visitor in the city?

In terms of sightseeing, definitely Plaza de Espana. It is one of the most beautiful monuments and parks I have seen. It is the perfect location for a professional photoshoot, and you can book a photographic tour with Gepetoo.com - make a personal souvenir that will last forever. It is just marvelous and you can enjoy a nice boat ride in the Plaza. But after that, I would go back to the Alcazar, the Cathedral and the Juderia, and get lost in the little streets having some tapas.

What would you consider Seville's must-see tourist attractions?

Plaza de Espana, Alcazar, the Cathedral, the Giralda, the Metropol Parasol, the Torre del Oro, the Puente de Triana, Salvador's Church, the Casa Palacios, Plaza de Alameda and Barrio de Santa Cruz are some of the main sites that you should visit in Seville.

What's the best way to get around in Seville?

Walking and biking. Seville is a great size for walking but in summer it can get quite hot, so a bike ride will shorten the transport times and will allow you to feel the breeze in your face. Also, Seville is quite flat and has a lot of bike paths so it is the perfect bike city!

Is it a safe city? Are there any areas you feel travellers should avoid?

Seville's city centre and the surroundings, in general, are very safe. The only thing you should look out for is pickpockets. But as long as you don't go too far from the centre, you should be completely fine.

Is there a particular neighbourhood where you would recommend visitors find accommodation?

The alternative area of the center, called La Alameda will probably be more affordable than around the cathedral and it is not too far to walk. So it is a good choice. But if you have a big budget then, anywhere in El Arenal or around the Cathedral would be ideal.

Is Seville a good city for eating out?

YES, YES AND YES! Seville has more bars than balconies, and we've got a lot of balconies! Generally you can get great tapas and meals at reasonable prices. Sevillanos love to be out eating and drinking all day and night, so you just need to join us and enjoy!

Which restaurants would you most highly recommend?

It really depends on what you are looking for. Below are some examples:

  • For a proper meal: La Moneda, or Inchaustegui.

  • For some tapas on a terrace: Duo Tapas.

  • For tapas, Sevillian style (standing up): Casablanca, or el Rinconcillo.

  • For other culinary styles: No-Lugar or Al Solito Posto.

Is Seville an expensive travel destination?

I wouldn't say so. You can eat for less than 10 Euros, and accommodation can start at 30 Euros per night.

Are there exciting excursions out of the city for those who want to explore the wider region?

Yes, Seville province and Andalucía are filled with beautiful White Villages, historical places like Carmona and beautiful nature spots like Donana Park. Also, in less than 2 hours you can reach amazing beaches in Cadiz, or the beautiful Mezquita of Cordoba.

How long would you recommend spending in Seville on holiday?

I would spend at least 3 full days to discover properly the beautiful life in the city.

What is your favourite season in the city?

The best time to go is definitely spring. Not as hot as in summer and we have several festivities like Semana Santa and Feria. Also, the smell of the city in this period is very special.

Anything else you would like to mention?

Seville is a monumental film city. It has been location for many international movies and TV shows like Game of Thrones, Star Wars, Knight & Day. Gepetoo.com organizes guided tours where you can learn about the details of the movie process and visit film locations!
