The climate in the Highlands is generally cool, damp and cloudy, but daily weather is unpredictable. The Highlands are prone to short winter days and very long summer evenings. January and February are the coldest months, averaging 37°F (3°C), and summer has average temperatures of 55°F (13°C) during its warmest months of July and August. The highest rainfall is in May and June, although it does rain sporadically year-round.
