Overview The purpose-built holiday resort of Gumbet, on Turkey's
southwest coast, is a stone's throw away from the larger resort of
Bodrum and is spreading ever closer to its neighbour as it grows in
popularity. The Gumbet holiday resort caters largely for those
interested in relaxing on the beach by day, and partying in one of
its many nightclubs by night.
For those wanting to attempt something more lively during the
day, a multitude of watersports are on offer, including jet skiing,
parasailing, windsurfing and pedal boating. For the less energetic,
a leisurely boat trip along the coastline of the Bodrum Peninsula
is a great way to catch a tan and explore the scenery while on
holiday. Many of the beaches around Gumbet are pebble, but there
are a few, like Allora, that are sandy.
As there are not many sightseeing opportunities in Gumbet
itself, most visitors opt to catch a
dolmus (minibus) to
Bodrum, which is about 10 minutes away, or to other nearby towns to
shop and see the sights. There are a few bars and restaurants in
town which cater largely to tourists, so it's easier to find fish
and chips than traditional Turkish cuisine.
- There are loads of shops but watch when buying perfume as i bought 2 bottles of chanel and it smelled real but was so fake it went off within days. designer clothes are everywhere and they do look real as i bought a few la coste tshirts. : lynsey caig...See More Tips | Add Tip
- The food is amazing! there is every type of food from chinese, indian, turkish, italian etc. Prefer the food in turkey so much more than the spanish food. the food is really cheap. : lynsey caig...See More Tips | Add Tip
- Millenium: totally disagree with the last comment I'm afraid. We found all staff there so welcoming and the service excellent. We have stayed in touch with many of the staff and this will definitely be the place we frequent most on our return to Gumbet. It is in a quieter location to the rowdy bar street and the ideal place to have a quiet drink or enjoy "Henry's Fishbowls!" if you want to have a party atmosphere! Stuart "Bev" Beveridge
- The Milennium bar, It's owner takes obsequiousness to a new level. Another classic example of having food and drink foisted onto you, because he just doesn't know when to leave the customer alone! Rosemary Jeff Davies
- Jacks Place. Spotlessly clean, fab Turkish food. Great atmosphere, charming waiters. Value for money, and always a great welcome, even if you're only having a cup of Mehmets world famous ROSEMARY tea. Delightful all round. We love Jack and his soon to be world famous waiters!!!! - You must go on a boat trip! Great chill day. wendy
- The nightlife in Gumbet varies but caters for all ages and goes on until the the last reveller decides to go home. All restaurants offer free drinks, garlic bread and most offer free kids meals when adults pay. The beach is nice and offers loads of watersports. The restaurants along the beach all offer happy hours from 7pm. Try the cocktails as they are beautiful. kerry omalley
