| Description: | In 1983 two University friends, Tim Greening and Glenn Rowley, decided to take their passion for travel in Asia and in particular the Karakoram mountains, and create a travel company with a difference: 'The Karakoram Experience.' Today KE Adventure Travel has grown to become one of the world's leading independent specialist travel agents. In addition to the extensive range of worldwide adventures, the staff in the UK and American offices organise tailor-made private expeditions, trips for school groups and charity treks. Whether you seek to climb amongst the world's highest peaks, explore untamed wilderness areas, or witness first hand the wildlife or culture of far-off lands, KE has the perfect selection of travel adventures. |

Beware booking anything with KE Adventure. My husband was told his trek in Nepal in April 2012 was GUARANTEED to run, so on the strength of that booked his travel to reach Nepal. But no sooner had he booked the flights, KE announced that the trip was no longer running. Even though he had taken out travel insurance, insurance does not provide cover for the tour company simply saying, sorry other people have pulled out, so we are no longer doing the trek.
Clearly KE Adventure are just not a reputable company in respect of booking arrangements. They offered my husband another trek, but obviously it's not the one he wanted to do and 6 months later. My husband got his £200 deposit back, but vows never to use them again.
Just thought other people should be aware of using KE Adventure. Best avoided. There are other much more professional companies out there.
Simon (2008)
Used KE a couple of times, but never again after the last trip in 2008. Had an appalling trip to Argentina with them: very poor organisation, an unprofessional trek leader, and group members who were clearly not physically capable of being on such a trip putting the rest of us at risk. Complaints met with deaf ears and standard corporate excuses. Very disappointing, especially as previous trips had been decent. Have since used other major tour operators in this field, all who have been superb.

We went to Nepal with KE Adventure Travel on an Everest Luxury Lodge trip in early December 2010
It was excellent. Six of us altogether, two couples and two solo travellers. The scenery was stunning. Sunshine every day, crystal clear skies and Everest in view most days. The accomodation and food were good although in December the lodges are cold at night. By Nepalese standards in the high mountains the lodges are very good, but it seems strange to walk in shorts and short sleeved shirts and then pile on clothes to go indoors. The cost and difficulty of heating lodges precudes them from having warm bedrooms although the heated beds were a great luxury. The trip was very well organised and all the Sherpas, guides and leader were faultless. Enough guides were always available so that people could go at their own pace. We would certinally use them again.

I've travelled three times with KE and about to go for the fourth time this summer. The first time was back in 1994 when my wife and I trekked along the Pakistan/Afghanistan border. That was the best trip that we have ever done. It wasn't until 2008 that we travelled again with KE, but this time we took our two children, both still at primary school, to Nepal on one of the family trips. It was breathtaking and superbly organised with a fantastic guide. In 2009 we trekked across the Sahara desert in Morocco, again with our children, but this time with French families which was brilliant. In 2010 we have booked a private trip to climb Mount Toubkal in Morocco. We booked a private trip becuase we wanted a slightly different itinerary to that advertised, which was easily organised. I can definately recommend KE whether you're travelling with or without children. We've travelled with another family adventure company, one that is a bit cheaper, but KE are way, way, way better. So what are you waiting for? Get it done, life's too short.

I went to Nepal with KE Adventures last year for the first time. I'm new to camping but this was great. It was cold when we got up high but the shurpas were so good at taking care of us. You always felt in safe hands. Our guide was also first-rate and made sure the team gelled well. I would go with them again - in fact I'm hoping to go to Peru this year.

Trip to Nepal last year. KE did most things right, but one thing was the tents we camped in. They leaked very badly. My camera cards were damaged and I lost over 200 photographs. KE did in fairness reply, but nothing offered in simple compensation. Given the enormous price paid for the holiday, and the shambles with the tents, plus no small compensation for my photos - I won't be using them again. Shame for them, since I'm now doing more trekking and my money will go to someone else.
