Flights to Bolivia |
Flying to Bolivia's mile-high El Alto Airport at La Paz from the UK is an expensive and lengthy exercise. There are no direct flights to Bolivia: most travellers fly into another South American country, preferably Argentina, Brazil or Peru, and make connections on the local carriers which serve the busy La Paz and Santa Cruz route. The more adventurous fly into neighbouring countries and cross overland into Bolivia. A popular route is to fly British Airways (www.ba.com) to Miami, USA, and then take an American Airlines (www.aa.com) or Aerosur (www.aerosur.com) flight to Santa Cruz. Stopovers in Buenos Aires and Sao Paulo are also popular. Bolivia's national carrier, Lloyd Aereo Boliviana (LAB) ceased operations in May 2007.
