What to see in Chad

Chad Attractions

Poor infrastructure and the need for permits to travel outside the capital make Chad difficult to navigate. Parts of the country are also extremely dangerous. Tourists are encouraged to be very cautious and stay up to date on developments.

Nevertheless, Chad has some truly remarkable natural attractions and great potential as a safari destination. Places like Lake Chad, the Ennedi Plateau and Zakouma National Park are thrilling and unique.

Gaoui village is a must for anyone interested in seeing the traditional culture. It's very close to the capital city and renowned for its traditional crafts and architecture. Sadly, Lake Chad is receding drastically. Visitors who want to experience this great body of water should head to the bustling port town of Bol, where boat trips can be organised.

Travellers should note that the authorities require first-time visitors to any city or village in Chad to register their presence with the local police.
