Airports in Ethiopia
Located 3.7 miles (6km) southeast of central Addis Ababa, Addis Ababa Bole Airport is one of the busiest airports in Africa, serving roughly 3.5 million passengers each year. Its new international terminal is among the largest on the continent, and the three-level structure has a number of shops and restaurants for passengers.
Addis Ababa Bole Airport is known for slow processing times, however the staff is famously friendly and passengers generally find the facility a pleasant, if chaotic, introduction to their holiday in Ethiopia.
The airport is situated five miles (8km) from Addis Ababa.
Getting to the city
Most area hotels offer shuttle services from the airport, however these should be booked in advance. Local minibuses are also available, however these tend to be crowded and can be uncomfortable with luggage.
