Airports in Ethiopia

Addis Ababa Bole International Airport (ADD)

Overview

Located about five miles (8km) southeast of central Addis Ababa, Addis Ababa Bole Airport is one of the busiest airports in Africa. Its new international terminal is among the largest on the continent, and the three-level structure has a number of shops and restaurants for passengers.

Addis Ababa Bole Airport is known for slow processing times, but the staff is famously friendly and passengers generally find the facility a pleasant, if chaotic, introduction to their holiday in Ethiopia.

Location

The airport is situated five miles (8km) from Addis Ababa.

Getting to the city

Most hotels offer shuttle services from the airport, however these should be booked in advance. Local minibuses are also available but these tend to be crowded and can be uncomfortable with luggage.

Time

GMT +3.
