Ethiopia experiences three seasons. From September to February is the long, dry season, followed by a short rainy season in March and April. Preceding the long rainy season from June through August, May is the driest and hottest month. The lowlands are hot and humid, while the highlands have cooler temperatures. The average annual temperatures in the highlands are about 61° F (16° C), while the lowlands average about 82° F (28° C).
