Airports in Hungary

Budapest Franz Liszt International Airport (BUD)

Overview

Located 10 miles (16km) east of Hungary's capital city, Budapest Franz Liszt International Airport (BUD) is the largest of Hungary's five international airports. Renamed in 2011 for the famous Hungarian composer on the 200th anniversary of his birth, the airport is still popularly known as Budapest Ferihegy International Airport. The airport is an important hub in Eastern Europe, and flights to Budapest International are available from destinations all over the globe. The airport is known for its efficiency, and is infamous for the unfriendliness of its staff: if you want fast processing times and short queues, you'll love the airport; if you want a smiling, conversation-filled introduction to Hungary, you'll be left disappointed. The highlight of the airport is its new SkyCourt area, providing a good selection of shops and food and beverage outlets, as well as free wifi internet access. Plans are underway at Budapest Ferihegy for a brand-new business park and hotel with conference facilities.

Location

The airport is located 10 miles (16km) southeast of Budapest.
